Applications to the Bronx River Art Center's (BRAC) Artist Studios Program (ASP) are currently being accepted for our next quarterly review of new studio applicants. The deadline for application materials is January 22, 2021 with a move-in date of March 1, 2021.
Artists of all visual art disciplines - painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation, new media - are invited to apply for this unique studio opportunity in the West Farms Square section of The Bronx. BRAC's newly renovated building with a professional street level gallery, public performance space and fully equipped visual art and digital media classrooms is located just one block from the #2 and #5 trains and right off the Cross Bronx Expressway. Our lofty studios with 10 ft ceiling heights are being offered with fantastic below-market-rates with a window in each space, some with Bronx River Views. 6 studios are available to artists to produce new work and make use of resources needed to support their creative practice. Access to workspaces are daily from 10am-10pm on weekdays, 10am-8pm on Saturdays and 10am-5pm on Sundays for one year, with a second-year renewal option. These non-living studios, in an open plan vary in size from 250 to 400 sq ft. Artists will have the opportunity to present their work to curators and critics, and to be exposed to a broader general audience during annual open Studio events. Residency participants will be encouraged to engage with students and community-program participants throughout the year.
Due to the financial and health related hardships of the COVID-19 Pandemic, BRAC is offering a 15% discount on our already below-market-value rates for the first 6 months that range in price from $360 - $470, down from $425 - $550 a month.
BRAC's ASP aims to provide a creative environment where professional artists of all backgrounds can interact with one another and work with our community of students and families while pursuing their studio practice.
