BRONX RIVER ART CENTER is currently seeking to fill part-time, seasonal positions for 2023 and beyond. Bronx River Art Center (BRAC), a 35 year old community-based multi-arts organization, located in a four-story state of the art new building on the banks of the Bronx River in the West Farms area of the Bronx is looking to fulfill teaching positions for Fall 2022 and beyond. Through its three interlocking programs: after-school classes in visual and media arts, contemporary art exhibitions, performances, and affordable studio spaces for professional artists, BRAC provides cultural opportunities to a multi-ethnic community in the Bronx and NYC at large. Located one block from the train station West Farms Sq - E Tremont Avenue of the #2, and #5 trains, BRAC is conveniently accessible and easy to reach.

OPPORTUNITIES - DESCRIPTIONS:

1. Teaching Artist: ADVANCED PAINTING
BRAC is looking to hire a teaching artist specialized in Painting. The right candidate will be teaching an Advanced Painting class geared towards teens, young adults and adults.
Details:
Spring 2023: April 17th to June 24th, 2023 (10 sessions)
Day and Time: Saturdays, 2:00 to 4:00 PM
Employment Type: Part-time Seasonal

Benefits: P/T Position. This is a great position for:
- an art teacher (or former art teacher) looking for some extra work.
- an artist who wants to be part of a creative community while teaching and helping others.

Qualifications:
Art Degree or Concentration in Painting (experience in teaching in a community setting a plus).
Experience Teaching and designing curriculum.
Commitment to the values of Arts Education.
* Real interest in contributing to the creative development of diverse populations.
- Compensation:
Seasonal contract based: $ 125 / 2 hr class + additional meetings / outings paid.

2. Cultural Immigrant Initiative: ARTIST
The C.I.I. is a program whose purpose is to support a project focused on the cultural history or traditions and heritage of immigrant communities in New York City. Cultural Immigrant Initiatives take place at community centers or can be implemented in public spaces (parks, recreation centers, etc) selected and approved by the organization.

BRAC is looking to hire TWO experienced and passionate teaching artists who are interested in creating a Socially Engaged project or series of Socially Engaged Workshops (could be in Painting, Drawing, Crafts and Arts, Book Making, etc.) for 2 community centers in the borough of the Bronx.

Details:
Ages: Adults and Older Adults
Duration: 8 weeks (Program can start in April to end by June 30th).
Day and Time: 2 hr class, class meets TWICE a week OR 3 hr class meets ONCE / week.
Hours: Exact hours to be determined
Employment type: Part-time contract based.

- Responsibilities:
Develop a project to be implemented with the participants.
The project must be a Social Practice based / Socially Engaged Workshops and can take any form.
Develop the sessions for your project.
Collaborate with BRAC staff on best practices.

- Qualifications:
A deep commitment to creative and educational practices.
An inclusive pedagogical approach.
Teaching experience required, prior work with museums and /or arts organizations a plus.

- Compensation:
Seasonal contract based on $ 200 / 2.5 hr. session + additional meetings / outings paid.
