Chat Travieso
Chat Travieso is an artist, designer, and co-founder of the multidisciplinary collaborative duo Yeju & Chat, with Yeju Choi. His practice encompasses community-centered urban interventions, public art projects, and research initiatives. He has worked with various non-profits, cultural institutions, and civic agencies, including the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, NYC Parks Department, NYC DOT, the Cleveland Public Library, and the Cambridge Arts Council. Honors include a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, YoungArts Jorge M. Pérez Award, and United States Artist Fellowship. Travieso’s research has been supported by grants from the Graham Foundation and NYSCA. His writing has been featured in Places Journal, AD (Architectural Design), MAS Context, and Urban Omnibus. His artist residencies include LMCC Process Space, Smack Mellon Studio Program, and the Elsewhere Museum. He is currently the Tepper Chair in Visual Arts at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts.
