The workshop will provide older adults with the opportunity to study a wide variety of traditional and contemporary poetry with the goal of developing their skills as readers and creators of poetry. The number of workshop participants will be limited to 12, to better provide in depth learning and meaningful participation. Anyone from the community who is 60 years of age or older is eligible to enroll in the workshop. In the last month of the program participants will share their works at a public reading with an audience of center members, family, friends, and those from the greater community. In addition, at the end of the project year, a journal of selected works by the participants will be published. The Journal will be distributed at readings and other Center events. The Journal will also be used to gain the support of funders.
