“We Are Melrose,” is a diverse, outdoor community folk art celebration and visual exhibition, and the “Melrose Holiday Parranda 2018,” is an age-old, musically-based Puerto Rican tradition that takes place during the holidays and is akin to Caroling sessions. We have scheduled both of these community- and artist-led celebrations as pivots around the seasonal summer and winter solstice observances as a means of paying homage to the positive cultural idiosyncrasies within the South Bronx, with an eye on cultural preservation and environmental and green space concerns.
