Macdara Mac Uibh Aille

Writer and director, Macdara Vallely (professional name - born Mac Uibh Aille), was born in Craigavon, County Armagh in Northern Ireland. 

His narrative feature, Babygirl (2011), which he wrote and directed, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival was the recipient of numerous international awards, and was released theatrically in the USA in October 2013, and subsequently on VOD and Hulu and iTunes.

His first feature, Peacefire (2009) was premiered at Karlovy Vary, and received international distribution with Goldcrest Films.

His current film, Quill, is a feature documentary about the infamous Mike Quill - founder of the TWU in NYC and a champion of workers and Civil Rights.  In 1966 he was jailed by the City of New York for his part in the first citywide transit strike in the City's history.  He suffered a heart attack and died in jail.

Vallely has also directed several short films, documentaries, and plays.
