James Lahti makes his home in the Bronx as a composer, pianist, and conductor. He received his musical training in California, then at the Manhattan School of Music and the New School. Awarded a grant from the New York Council on the Arts/Meet The Composer, Jim has written extensively for various chamber music ensembles as well as art songs, orchestral music, musicals, and operas. He was a resident pianist for 7 years with The OMNI Ensemble and produced a CD of his work with them. He has also worked in the theatre as a conductor, music director, and vocal coach. Jim has been involved as co-producer, music director, and arranger for a number of concerts benefiting charities. Jim's recent commissions include a chamber transcription of Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergnes. He is excited about his current project – a concert dedicated to his new song cycle, scheduled for June 2018 at Symphony Space.
