Deborah Kahan Kolb
Deborah Kahan Kolb is a native New Yorker currently living in Riverdale, Bronx. Much of her poetry is informed by the unique experiences and challenges of growing up in, and ultimately leaving, the insular world of Hasidic Judaism. Deborah earned her BA and MA degrees in English/Creative Writing from CUNY Queens College, where she served as editor of the Journal of Jewish Studies and was the recipient of numerous writing prizes. She earned her MS in School Administration and Supervision from Touro College, after which she served as principal of a private school for disadvantaged children of Central Asian descent. Deborah’s work has recently appeared in Mom Egg, New Verse News, Rise Up, Writers Resist, 3Elements Review, Poets Reading the News, Tuck, Literary Mama, and Paddock Review. Her debut poetry collection, Windows and a Looking Glass (Finishing Line Press 2017) was a finalist for the New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition."
