Bonafide Rojas

Bonafide Rojas
Bonafide Rojas has been a poet for over two decades. No one in his family is an artist. He was raised by his mother & was encouraged to take the conventional road, never to be a poet or musician, Yet, he dropped out of school, quit most of his jobs & never been married. He’s forty years old & has a teenager who thinks that being a poet is cool. He feels he’s at an intersection. Should he quit writing & get a full-time job, health benefits & 401K? Writing is not a leisure pursuit but a constant reinvention of self, a tool he’s used to repair everything. It’s important for him to know that writing is capable of healing. So when his son says “I think it’s cool you’re a poet,” he knows he needs to continue down this path because children rarely ever think their father is cool.
