Utilizing the playfulness of shadows and the colorful expressiveness of Brazilian carnival costume design, Ginga da Bahia and Helen Dos Santos are developing the “O Boi Elefante” project: an exploratory theater experience of Brazilian Folkloric culture designed for children ages 2 to 6 and their families. The Boi Elefante is a mystical cow/elephant who dances and never says a word but brings wishes into reality…sometimes. There are three elements of the "O Boi Elefante" experience: 1. Theater performance 2. Interactive shadow theater activity and 3.
