TRADE TALKS

TRADE TALKS
'BRONX TRADES' is an ongoing project which started in 2012 in the South Bronx highlighting the historic and economic importance of the workers and their craft in the industries of Hunts Point and Port Morris to the Bronx community and wider New York community, bringing closer together the area’s residential and industrial communities, and encouraging youths to pursue their own trade in the Bronx and beyond. In 2015, Martine Fougeron will use the photos of the 18 Trades photographed to this day in the community for youth instruction about trades to foster awareness and vocations about job possibilities and opportunities in their neighborhoods. I am creating the TRADE TALKS which is a Career Day Fair with THE POINT CDC. The 90 students of the Student Youth Employment Program will attend this Career Fair in July/August of 2015 (exact date to be determined). The Trade Talks will also have present owners and workers of the trades/factories.
