River to River, Soil to Soil

River to River, Soil to Soil
“River to River, Soil to Soil” is an hour-long play with 8 main actors and 5-8 extras, developed first in the LAByrinth Theater Company’s 2020 Intensive Ensemble as a 10-minute play and public reading, and further evolved over the past two years. The play is interactive and embodies a “Choose Your Own Adventure” dynamic between actors and audience, where certain audience members will be asked to make choices throughout the play which will lead them down different (pre-determined but unknown to them) routes, all resulting in radically different questions, answers, endings, and new beginnings. The neighborhoods selected are those I have close ties to from growing up and going to school in the Bronx, and I would aim to host the play performances during the summer months and within the allotted grant time frame, after taking a few months at the beginning of the year to plan and confirm actors/actresses and director for the play. Furthermore, I would tap into my network of community organizations for advertisement, as well as for audience attendance.
