P.S. (as in public school) is a participatory-multidisciplinary project combining choreography, pedagogy, and performance art, resulting in a collaborative piece formatted as a live performance and possibly a video, investigating personal and collective spaces in the context of a historic public school in the South Bronx; Casita María. P.S. will evolve out of four hands-on workshops, as well as exercises, conversations and gatherings with the students, the staff, and the communities connected to this organization. The project pays attention to both the neighborhood out of which it will emerge and to the immediate site hosting it. P.S. draws inspiration for dance from the objects, props, and routines that its participants employ as part of their daily tasks.
