The City’s incredibly successful Open Streets program transforms streets into public spaces that improve our neighborhoods. Community-based organizations, schools, and groups of restaurants can all apply to participate. Full or partial funding is available to all non-profit community Open Street partners. Educational and cultural programming will be brought to diverse communities citywide, with a focus on equity.
For new locations, DOT is looking forward to working closely with applicants to identify resources for the safe and successful execution of an Open Street. DOT strongly encourages all types of partners to apply for the program.
Returning Open Streets partners only need to complete a short-form application. DOT will work with returning applicants on streetscape changes if requested, such as planters, barriers, or street redesigns. Some existing Open Streets will continue to operate through this application period.
