Hyonok Kim is award winning director and choreographer. She was born in Korea, then she went to France, where she studied Film, Theatre, dance and received her Ph.D in Art at the Universite de Paris I. Her first dance film was aired at Canal + TV in France. She later went to New York to deepen her artistic experience in dance and in film. She studied film directing at the New York Film Academy. She directed 12 films such as Weeping Water, For Sunrise, Dance with Horses, Ode on a Korean Urn, Flight of the Soul, Isle of the Waiting Soul. For many years a professor at Keimyung University in South Korea. She now lives and works in the Bronx, as filmmaker. Her films were awarded Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Best Experimental Award, International New York Film Festival Best Experimental, New York Movie Awards Best Experimental, Brooklyn Film Festival.
