From Roots to Arts | NYCHA Artist-in-Residence Program

The Public Housing Community Fund (PHCF), in partnership with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), NYC Public Design Commission (PDC), NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), NYCHA residents and NYCHA Cornerstone nonprofit operators are seeking five (5) artists to join the From Roots to Arts: Celebrating NYCHA’s Cultural Heritage artist-in-residency program.

One (1) selected artist will be placed in residence for 20-months with each of the following NYCHA communities /community-based organizations starting in July 2024:
  • Bronx River Houses, Children’s Arts & Science Workshops, Inc.
  • Bushwick Houses, Grand Street Settlement
  • King Towers Houses, SCAN-Harbor
  • Astoria Houses, HANAC, Inc.; and
  • Richmond Terrace Houses, Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center of Staten Island

  • Application Deadline: Sunday, May 19, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. EST. 
  • Virtual Info Session: April 30, 2024; 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Recording on website: May 5, 2024.
  • Artist Finalist Interviews: Mid-June 2024 (June 24 - 28, 2024) Interviews; conducted in person.
  • Artist Notifications: End of June 2024
  • Residency Start Date: Early July 2024
  • Residency End Date: March 2026
