The next virtual Bronx Memoir Project Workshop Series, The Magical Lives of Common Things, takes place on Saturdays between January 20th and February 10th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM via Zoom.
In this free creative writing workshop led by Orlando Ferrand, participants will explore breathing life into memorable items, revealing personal narratives through diverse perspectives, and crafting memoirs with dual perspectives. Each workshop offers a unique facet of storytelling, from uncovering interconnectedness in daily life to adding depth and complexity to personal narratives.
Writers of all experience levels are welcome. Participants of the Bronx Memoir Project Workshop Series are eligible to submit their memoirs for consideration in the next Anthology.
Workshop Schedule
Class I: Reflections Through Objects - Saturday, January 20, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Participants will explore their connectedness and dependency on the inanimate inhabitants of their daily lives through writing prompts.
Class II: Narratives in Objects - Saturday, January 27, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Participants will find unique points of view and representations of memorable objects in their lives through the writing process.
Class III: Personal Stories in Third-Person Voices – Saturday, February 3, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Participants will learn to reveal their personal stories through the voices of people, places, and things.
Class IV: Crafting Memoirs with Dual Perspectives - Saturday, February 10, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Participants will learn to craft their memoirs in the first person. The workshop will focus on space, timeline, sensory details, and the double storyline.
