Sydney Valerio is a creative non-fiction writer, a poet, a performer, and an ultra marathoner. In 2016 she wrote and performed “Matters” at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Her poetry is in several anthologies including the BreakBeat Poets Vol. 4: Latinext. Sydney earned her MFA at CCNY. She's a 2019 BRIO Award winning poet, a 2020 VOLCANISTA, and a 2023 & 2024 Kenyon Review alumna. In 2022, she was named an Educator of Excellence by the New York State English Council. Sydney manages the CCNY MFA Archives as Muse: a Harlem Storytelling project and created the archive project: NYC Kid Who's Now a NYC Adult.
