Robert Silverman was born in New Haven, Connecticut and began his love of Jazz on trumpet. He moved to Hartford to attend Trinity College and was further encouraged in jazz by Jackie McLean. Robert moved to Boston and formed his own ensemble and graduated from New England Conservatory in 1984 where he studied with George Russell, Jimmy Giuffre, and played piano and trumpet.
