Nicole America Cruz is a multidisciplinary visual artist from The Bronx, New York. Her work centers on celebrating and empowering both her own identity and the identities of those who surround her. With a versatile approach across various mediums, Nicole explores the complexity of growing pains, intersectionality, and belonging. Her portraits reflect the shared experiences of Afro-Latinx communities and individuals who grew up in struggle, capturing both personal and collective stories that deserve to be seen. Nicole is now primarily working with oil paint, though she is also well-versed in drawing, ceramics, and printmaking. With a BFA in Studio Art from CUNY Queens College, Nicole is also dedicated to inclusive arts education as a Teaching Artist at a non-profit in the Bronx. Her artistic practice combines personal reflection with a broader cultural perspective. Nicole hopes to be the representation she needed growing up through her art and community work.
