Job Title: Development Manager
Status: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Location: The Center at West Park, 165 W 86th Street, New York, NY 10024 (eligible for remote work, except for special events)
Schedule: 20 hours per week during business hours (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri) plus occasional additional evening and weekend hours for special events. Consistent weekly schedule to be set based on job requirements and applicant’s availability.
Reports to: Managing Director
Supervises: Project-based development contractors, including grant writers and event coordinators
Key relationships: Artistic Director, CWP Board of Directors, strategic planning and fundraising consultants
Compensation: $30 per hour ($31,200 per year). Paid time off for vacation, health, and holidays.

The Center at West Park (CWP) is a non-profit community performing arts center based in the historic West Park Presbyterian Church, a New York City landmark. We present engaging and boundary-pushing early-career and established artists through our artist residency programs, provide affordable rental space for artists to develop their work, and steward the restoration of our historic home’s landmark exterior. CWP is led by Artistic Director Zachary Tomlinson and Managing Director Natasha Katerinopoulos.

WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for a skilled and experienced person dedicated to growing and sustaining the artistic community of New York City to join our team as our Development Manager. This person has prior experience in non-profit development and fundraising and is interested in being a key member of a small organization with a big vision for a more inclusive and accessible arts and cultural community on the Upper West Side and all of New York City.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Manager will be responsible for managing CWP’s development and fundraising activities, including individual giving, institutional giving, and special events.
This person will manage CWP’s donor database, annual appeal and other individual giving campaigns, corporate giving, grant applications to government funders and foundations, and annual gala and other special events. They will supervise grant writers, event coordinators, and other independent contractors working on fundraising and development projects. Reporting to the Managing Director, this person will work with the administrative staff and board of directors.
The Development Manager will be onsite for special events and may work remotely and/or at the CWP office during business hours.
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Attend gala & fundraising committee meetings as scheduled
- Manage and maintain CWP donor database
- Manage annual appeal and other individual giving campaigns
- Manage and track corporate giving and in-kind donations
- Write and manage grant applications to government funders and foundations
- Write and manage grant reporting to funders
- Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations, program officers, and individual donors
- Manage annual gala and other special events
- Engage and supervise development contract workers, including and grant writers event coordinators
- Provide fundraising reports for quarterly board meetings
- Experience in non-profit development and fundraising
- Reliable, honest, and respectful of others
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong writer and editor
- Strong computer and information technology (IT) skills
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively with staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about the institution, its donors, and its staff
- Available at least 20 hours per week between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday
- Available to work occasional nights and weekends for special events
Bonus points for:
- Passion for theater, dance, music, and/or other performing arts
- Experience in individual giving, institutional giving, grant writing, special events, and/or capitol campaigns for New York City performing arts organization(s)
- Experience with the preservation of landmarks and/or historic buildings
- Strong graphic design skills
