The South Bronx Folk Festival

The South Bronx Folk Festival
The 7th edition of the annual South Bronx Folk festival (SBFF), a week of cultural events culminating with a performance finale at Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture. Activities will highlight local folk/traditional artists and ensembles from November 14 – 19, 2016. The goal of the festival is to highlight the cultural diversity of the South Bronx, while displaying a shared folklore and tradition in performance. All activities will take place at cultural and educational venues in New York's 16th congressional district, where over 80% are considered minority and most residents face the following issues: - Limited or no access to performing arts programs; - Folk and traditional arts are underrepresented in the area; and - Limited or no resources to link and build collaborations between folk/traditional artists and the surrounding community.
