
Lauren Shapiro is a freelance writer and a dance accompanist in New York City. She has a B.A. from Queens College of CUNY, a B.Mus. from Manhattan School of Music and an M.A. in writing from Manhattanville College. Her publications include the song “Better Things to Do” recorded in 2016 by Annika Chambers, "Tempo Primo" in "I Thought My Father Was God – NPR's National Story Project" 2001, poetry in
Anderbo.com and her journalism has been published in such diverse print publications as
WorldandI.com, American Small Farm Magazine and Dance Spirit. Her article on Archie Comic Books and Literacy was originally published in Education Update in Manhattan and then reprinted in parent papers in Staten Island, New Jersey, Mississippi and Pennsylvania. As a dance accompanist, Ms. Shapiro works at Alvin Ailey, American Ballet Theatre and elsewhere.
