Chris Gude (New York, 1985) has made three films, all of them blending documentary and fiction with extensive fieldwork. ‘Mambo Cool’ (2013) was embedded in the underworld of small-time drug traffickers in Medellín, ‘Mariana’ (2017) delved into that of gasoline and whiskey smugglers on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, and ‘Morichales’ (2024) deals with informal gold mining in the jungles of Venezuela. They have exhibited in places such as FIDMarseille, Viennale, Dok Leipzig, Punto de Vista (Pamplona), Mar del Plata, Cartagena, Mostra de São Paulo, Lincoln Center (New York), MALBA (Buenos Aires), Cinemateca de Madrid, the Museum of the Moving Image (New York), Cinemateca de Bogotá, Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín, and Centre Pompidou (Paris).
