Mazarte Danza, Musica Y Juventud

Mazarte Danza, Musica Y Juventud
Mazarte Danza, Musica y Juventud aims to establish a Mexican Folkloric ballet and music program where children ages 8-12 and teens ages 13-17 will learn about the fascinating culture and traditions of Mexico. Over the course of 15 classes, Bronx youths will learn Mexican dance steps or zapateado and music from the Mixteca and other regions in Mexico through dances such as Quetzales, Sones Huastecos, and Sones Afro-Mestizos de Guerrero. Students will learn choreography and build collaborative skills. The workshops will culminate in a Dance and Music performance Recital in November, where parents, family, and general audiences will be exposed to Mexican Folkloric Dance and music, thereby making the arts accessible to Bronx residents and engaging them to form part of the cultural tapestry found in the borough itself.
