Ground Truth IRL Call for Proposals

Data Through Design Call for Proposals

Data Through Design (DxD) is a yearly data art exhibit and we’d like to encourage you to apply for our 2022 show next March. DxD is part of NYC’s Open Data Week and submissions should use at least one of NYC’s open datasets, available through the NYC Open Data.

Data Through Design’s Ground Truth IRL is a continuation and expansion of the 2021 DxD virtual exhibit, Ground Truth. As much as things have changed from last year, many familiar challenges remain unresolved, and as we transition back (or forward?) to an in-person, “In Real-Life” gallery experience, new works will be presented along with the works shown virtually in 2021, this time with fresh meaning and resonance.

Ground Truth is the insight we receive from being ”on the ground,” collecting or confirming data through direct observation. DxD seeks works that investigate this experience to connect “official” data to physical place and personal experience. We encourage artists to explore the gap between data and observation or to question the very meaning of “truth” in data.
