Barefoot Dancing forms the centerpiece of the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy's free interactive multicultural performing arts programming. BFD, held on 5 weekdays in July and August, attracts a broad spectrum of community members (2,000 annually). A continuing partnership with Lotus Music & Dance brings authentic ethnic dance artists adept at interactive presentations that engage and inform enthusiastic audiences of children and adults. BFD, held on the lawn of the historic Van Cortlandt House Museum, is convenient to neighborhood residents and public transportation and is timed to be easily accessible for working parents.
