Tea-Time Reflections

AAA3A

La Morada restaurant and AAA3A artist-run space cordially invite you to participate in a Mott Haven community project with Bronx Artist Michele Brody. Throughout August and September Ms. Brody invites resident members to partake in a series of safe personal tea ceremonies hosted at these local public spaces to share stories of managing through COVID-19 and photos of what we were left to see of the neighborhood while sheltering in place. The focus of these tea ceremonies is to collectively heal from the trauma of the ongoing pandemic and social unrest. Mott Haven Community members are invited to collaborate with the Artist to create a publication of their memoirs and an exhibition based on the donation of photographs from their home windows looking out at the distinctive vernacular architecture of Mott Haven.

Tea-Time Ceremonies will be held at the following Place/Date/Times:
La Morada @ 308 Willis Ave, September 9 from 11:00am to 4:00pm
AAA3A artist-run space @ 309 Alexander Avenue Apt. 3A, September 19 from 1:00 to 5:00pm

Tea-Time participants are invited to share their stories on tea-stained filters flattened as note papers to hang in a community-wide quilt at Mottley. As well as send digital photos of their views of the neighborhood through a window from home to urban4x4@gmail.com.
All will be invited to a culminating exhibition opening December 4, 2021 through January 8, 2022 at the AAA3A artist-run space.
"This project is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the Bronx Council on the Arts and the NYC Artist Corps.”
