Bronx Culture Trolley: "The Most Successful of the City's Trolley Routes" according to an August 2007 Report
“The Bronx Culture Trolley is widely considered the most successful of the city’s trolley routes” according to an August 2007 report by the Center for an Urban Future. They researched all of the cultural trolleys in the city’s boroughs and our First Wednesdays Bronx Culture Trolley received very impressive and favorable reviews. 2007 UAI/NYC Grants Program 

The Bronx Council on the Arts and the Urban Artist Initiative/ New York City (UAI/NYC), announce the second application cycle of a new grants program for NYC individual artists of color. The online application is available at http://uai.cuerate.org or by going to the website of any of consortium members. Applications should be submitted online. September 26, 2007 is the Next UAI/NYC Grants deadline and application seminars are being held throughout the city. Click here for this year's guidelines.

BCA offers "How to Apply" One-on-One Meetings
for its 2007-2008 NYSCA/BCA Community Arts Grants
The Bronx Council on the Arts is offering one-on-one meetings with BCA Grants Administrator Americo Casiano Jr. for those who were not able to attend the “How to Apply” seminars for its 2007-2008 NYSCA/BCA Community Arts Grants. These meetings will be set up by appointment only as Mr. Casiano’s time permits. First-time applicants who have not attended one of the previously scheduled “How To” seminars must schedule a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Casiano to be eligible to apply for this grant. Returning organizations that missed this summer’s seminars should also check with Mr. Casiano about new changes to the eligibility requirements in this year’s grants program. BCA offers “How to Apply” Workshops for its
NYSCA Arts-in-Education Grant
NYSCA/AIE “How to Apply” Workshop – The Bronx Council on the Arts is offering two “How to Apply” workshops for its 2007-2008 NYSCA Arts-in-Education grant for Bronx schools on September 4th and September 10th and an Arts-In-Education Professional Development “Evaluation & Assessment of Students & Project” workshop on September 13th. All workshops will take place from 4:00-6:00pm. Click the appropriate dates for workshop details. All applicants must attend one (1) “How to Apply” workshop as well as the professional development workshop. All workshops will take place at BCA’s main office at 1738 Hone Avenue (between Van Nest & Morris Park Avenues) just off the corner of Morris Park Avenue. This application is currently available at BCA’s website at www.bronxarts.org. It must be downloaded for completion and submission. All granted projects must take place during the academic school year of 2007-2008 with a start date of January 28, 2008. BCA’s “How to Apply” workshops are free and open to anyone wishing to apply for this grant who meet its criteria. Application & Guidelines are available on BCA’s website and at BCA’s office. Deadline for application submission is October 11, 2007, 5:00pm. Application can be hand delivered or mailed postmarked by USPS by October 11, 2007. The Fort Apache Connection at Longwood Art Gallery
Painted Skateboards entitled “Apache Ramos” and “La India” by Douglas Miles, 2007

The Fort Apache Connection, co-sponsored by the Bronx Council on the Arts and the Hostos Center for Arts & Culture, With a special digital media presentation of Joe Conzo Jr.’s.(Boricua) photography, as a historical introduction, this exhibition includes work by contemporary Apache. The show will be on view from September 17th through November 10th with an opening reception on October 3rd in conjunction with the Bronx Culture Trolley. Click here for details.

Chapter One Fiction Competition and Reading Series application and guidelines are available

  • The Chapter One Fiction Competition and Reading Series is an annual competition and reading series, open to residents of New York City, that provides opportunities for emerging novelists to share their work with an audience, while emphasizing the importance of a strong first chapter.
