BCA Produces A New Artist Limited Edition Series
by Former Longwood Director Fred Wilson

  • This new print by Fred Wilson is the first in a series of limited edition works of art for sale, produced by the BCA in collaboration with international artists and galleries.

Bronx Writers’ Center Presents Free Writing Workshop

  • Fiction & Memoir: Writing from Imagination and/or Memory is a free workshop to be held at the Riverdale Community Center which will be taught by 2006-07 Literary Arts Fellow Peter Selgin. This nine-week workshop series will run Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon, from March 10 through May 12th (no class April 7th). Interested participants should call the Riverdale Community Center at 718-796-4724.

  • The Community Center is located at 660 West 237th Street in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.

BRIO Panelists Sought by BCA

  • The Bronx Council on the Arts is currently seeking nominations of individual artists in all media to serve on the Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) Awards panels. Cash honorarium and breakfast or lunch will be provided.

New York State Council on the Arts Internship Opportunities

  • The Arts in Education (AIE) Program is looking for several interns to work closely with the two-person Program staff. This internship is available immediately.

Funds Available to Arts Groups

  • The NYC Investment Fund has begun to promote its new Arts Entrepreneur Loan Fund to cultural organizations across the city. Their web page about the program features an asterisked description of the additional benefits available to successful borrowers based in the Bronx EZ---the NYCIF 3% interest loan becomes interest-free.

Performing Artists Needed for Lincoln Center

  • Melody Capote, consultant to Lincoln Center’s summer programs is looking for talent from within communities of color who are poets, spoken word artists and small and emerging performing groups who would like the visibility of a venue like Lincoln Center. She is seeking artists for a project called La Casita: A Home for the Heart. Lincoln Center will provide transportation, hotel, per diem and a modest fee for all artists selected. She is hungry for NEW, FRESH talent - hip hop, poetry, urban spoken word, small music and dance groups are all welcome.
