Chan's recent artwork explores the mythological character of the tourist, the traveler, the colonist and the immigrant, and their relationships between or within individuals. The work concentrates on the expectations and by-products of our journeys; the intersections between the often unrealistic hopes and dreams of the immigrant, the escapist and consumerist attitudes of the tourist, the quest for unexplored adventure of the traveler, and the colonist that follows reaping the profits.
