Award Winner

Ruth Marshall

2006 BRIO winner for mixed media

“What I hope for, above all, is that the people who see my artwork experience pleasure and wonder. I want the objects to transfix them, to seduce them away from the mundane nature of the everyday world for a moment and captivate them. The majority of my work is related and bound by a fascination with animals. Its essence is a synthesis of my own personal artistic vision and interpretations of the animal form. I am interested in creating beautiful objects from which a tension arises or a conflict is introduced.”
