Since 1989, BRIO has continued to provide financial support and recognition to Bronx artists creating works in the literary, media, performing and visual arts. BRIO provides 25 artists with $3,000 each awarded through a competitive peer panel process.
Bronx artists apply in one of the following categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Playwriting, Poetry, Screenwriting, Acting, Choreography, Dance, Storytelling, Performance Poetry, Instrumental/Vocal Music Performance, Music Composition, Crafts, Painting, Printmaking, Drawing, Artist Book, Sculpture, Film, Computer Animation, Digital and Computer Arts, Documentary or Narrative Video.
The selection of the awards is based solely on artistic excellence, and made by a panel of professional artists in the respective disciplines. Only Bronx residents are eligible to apply for the BRIO award. |
