bca's first annual applause awards
We were pleased to honor these five distinguished women at our awards ceremony and dinner held at The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. Speaks in Support of the Arts:
“I want to show you and tell you that I will continue to
move forward in my administration and support the
Bronx Council on the Arts and other cultural institutions
which are imperative as we move forward in the future of our borough.”
Benefit Hosts Molly Rokasy and Ray Raimundi were the perfect guides through the evening.
Joseph Kelleher, President and Chief Operating Officer, Hutchinson Metro Center lent words of support for BCA as we look forward to our 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012.
Councilman James Vacca highlighted BCA’s strong relationship-building with the Westchester Square business community as site for our future headquarters.
Members of Bronx and city-wide arts community presented our awardees and highlighted their powerful contributions to the arts.
Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner co-sponsored by Salsa Caterers & Special Events. The room was decorated through sponsorship by Daniel Florals & Events. Music for the evening was provided by the Reinaldo DeJesus Trio.
One famous Bronx TV personality enjoyed the food!
Guests bid furiously on works of art supplied by emerging and seasoned Bronx artists, including Gail Nathan, Bronx River Art Center, one of the evening’s award honorees.
Deputy Director Ellen Pollan and Auction consultant Edwin Ramoran urged the crowd to bid!
The Bronx artist community came out in support!
Solo Exhibition artist Sean Paul Gallegos from Stations of the Lost, on view at Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos, and APPLAUSE Host Committee member Desi K. Robinson.
Concluding the evening program, 13-year old Spoken Word artist NeNe Ali stirred the crowd!
After the dinner, guests danced feverishly to the sounds of DJ 1nen2wo.
