Cultural Venture Fund guidelines

In 2003 BCA contracted with the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation, the administrator of the New York State Empowerment Zone to manage the Cultural Tourism Venture Fund in awarding $400,000 to arts groups that can demonstrate the ability to develop and sustain income-generating projects guided by traditional business practices within the Bronx Empowerment Zone.

The CVF Program

• Guides and motivates constituents arts groups toward making money with defined priorities, action plans, assigned responsibilities and timetables - standard measures for success.
• Provides free technical assistance to arts leaders
• Encourages arts groups to focus on optimizing their unique assets and capacities, innate skills, talents best practices and qualities in the creation of entrepreneurial endeavors
  

CVF Application Process

• Includes orientation, completing an assets survey, developing a concept, making application and presentation to a panel comprised of professionals from profit and non-profit fields, writing a business plan, implementing the plan
• A successful application indicates linear progression from an organizations assets to the earned income project, to the bottom-line (increased profits) to sustainability.
