The Creative Bronx! Black Book (CB!BB) is an up-to-date business directory maintained by the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) that lists creative industry resources – businesses that are creative in nature and for-profit. Often these industries support culture. For example, the Bronx’s own JCR Percussion, a percussive instrument maker, supplies cowbells made-to-order for Latin musicians from across the city and from other countries. The Creative Bronx! Black Book also promotes vetted art handlers certified through the BCA Development Corporation’s Art Handler Training Program, in order to provide an array of back office resources for the collections industry. What do I use it for? Use it for locating quality creative services for interior design (design & decoration), the fine arts, events, and more. You can find referrals to reliable framers, printers, and art handlers that you’ve been looking for, right here in the Bronx. You can support people working in your neighborhood. BCA finds local talent through recommendations from cultural workers, referrals from other businesses, and ongoing research. BCA staff visits each business and checks references to ensure that the business and services listed are reliable, quality, and unique. * What geographic area is focused on? Right now the directory covers services available in the South Bronx plus selected freelancers who will come to you. Plans are in place to expand business listings to other select areas of the Bronx. * What kind of support is given to businesses that are listed? Being listed in the CB!BB adds visibility, provides an easy way to make referrals to other business services available in the area, and keeps you in the loop about free business workshops and aid. There are opportunities to network with other creative professionals during meetings, and most importantly being listed is a way to directly reach the creative constituency that BCA serves – Bronx artists and the Bronx community, who could be your new customers, refer your services to others, or even become your skilled employees! * How do I place an ad?
