Emily Henretta

Emily Henretta
Emily Henretta transforms images from contemporary, urban scenes into elaborately cut and gathered prints. Digital circuitry, human hands, natural scenes and patterned building materials float in layers as cut outs become portals to an imagined world. Delicately layered and folded, fastened loosely or allowed to hang open, these wall-hanging collages fall over and apart in fortuitous ways. Emily received her MFA from Columbia University in 2011. She was the recipient of the Toby Devan Lewis Award, a Leroy Neiman fellowship and an Emily Fisher Landau scholarship. Emily has exhibited her work at The International Print Center New York, The Westside Gallery at The School of Visual Arts, The BRIC Rotunda Gallery, Room East Gallery, Elizabeth Dee Gallery and The Bronx Museum among others. She lives and works in the Bronx, New York and currently teaches at Columbia University.
